This policy explains what personal data Ticker Bell collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to tickerbell.biz and to the services offered through it.
It is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Hungarian data-protection law. Where this policy and those laws differ, the law governs.
Who is responsible for your data

What we collect, and why
We collect only what a given interaction needs. We do not buy personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles.
- When you email us — your name, email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it to answer you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries; where the exchange leads to an engagement, it becomes performance of a contract.
- When you subscribe to the newsletter — your email address, so we can send it. The lawful basis is your consent, which you give by subscribing and can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every issue.
- When you buy a book — the name, address and payment details needed to fulfil and account for the order. Payments are processed by our payment provider; card details are entered on their systems and are never received or stored by Ticker Bell. The lawful basis is performance of a contract, and for the accounting records, a legal obligation.
- When you book a call or a mentorship session — your name, email address, and the scheduling details you provide. The lawful basis is your request to take steps prior to a contract.
- When you simply read the site — our hosting provider processes your IP address and standard request information in its server logs, as any web server must, to deliver the pages and to keep the service secure. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
What we do not do
- We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on this site.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
- We do not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- We do not send marketing email to anyone who has not asked for it.
Storage on your device
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It does store two small items in your browser's local storage, both strictly necessary and neither shared with anyone: your shopping cart, and your cookie-consent choice. The Cookie Policy sets out the detail, including the third-party embeds that may set cookies of their own once you allow them.
Who else processes your data
We use a small number of established providers, each under a contract that limits them to processing data on our instructions:
- Our website host, which serves these pages and keeps the server logs described above.
- Our email provider, which carries correspondence with you.
- Google, which serves the web fonts used across the site and the embedded map on our contact section. Google receives your IP address when those resources load.
- LinkedIn, which serves the embedded posts on our Press page when you choose to load them.
- Unsplash, which serves some of the photography on our course cards.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), our newsletter provider, which stores subscriber email addresses and sends the newsletter on our behalf.

Transfers outside the EEA
Some of the providers above are established in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is made under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified to it, or under another safeguard permitted by Chapter V of the GDPR.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry correspondence — ⟨state the retention period actually applied, e.g. 24 months from the last message⟩, after which it is deleted.
- Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe, and then only the record needed to make sure we do not email you again.
- Order and accounting records — eight years from the end of the relevant financial year, as Hungarian accounting law requires.
- Server logs — the retention period operated by our hosting provider, which is short and measured in weeks.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us to give you a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to send it to another provider in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time; withdrawing it does not affect anything done before you did.
Write to info@tickerbell.biz to exercise any of these. We will respond within one month. We do not charge for this, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság, naih.hu), or to the supervisory authority in the EU country where you live or work.
Security
We apply the controls described in our Quality Policy: access control, encryption in transit, backups, supplier assessment and incident response, sized to the sensitivity of the data. No system is perfectly secure, but where a breach is likely to put your rights at risk we will notify you and the supervisory authority as the GDPR requires.
Children
This site is aimed at researchers, students in higher education, and professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to info@tickerbell.biz and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. Where a change materially affects how we use personal data we will say so prominently, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.
